Collagraph Printing Workshop at SFCB. Collagraph is a unique printmaking process that uses a variety of collaged materials, such as fabric, papers, leaves, and sand, to construct a plate that's printable on an etching press. The result is unpredictable, but rewarding: a print with a rich surface of velvety lines, fluid marks, and unfamiliar textures. In Collagraph Printing and Gelatin Printing, the instructor will demonstrate plate construction and inking techniques for relief printing. The class will also experiment with using gelatin plates and botanicals. |
Paste Paper Workshop at SFCB. Enjoy making a mess while creating original, hand-painted paste papers. An attractive addition to a myriad of paper crafts, paste paper is made by covering a sheet with pigmented paste, then designing patterns in the paste with various mark-making tools. Traditionally used as endpapers in books, paste paper is used by artists today to make greeting cards, gift wrap, bookbinding decoration, collage, mixed media, and more. In Introduction to Paste Papers, learn different techniques for making traditional and modern patterns and take home a stack of samples. |
